Class 2PB

Just another Southwark Primary weblog

This week on Wednesday it is Green Day

Everyone will hopefully wear something green on Wednesday as we think about the Environment.

2PB will be making herb gardens out of recycled rubbish.

Have you heard about the plastiki?

This plastiki is trying to sail around the world. It is made from plastic bottles!!! Follow its route on http://www.theplastiki.com/trackplastiki/

Enterprise Week

Last week we turned the classroom into a factory and mass produced beautiful tea lights.

First we designed our product, then as a production line we made the tea lights using mosaic tiles, cellophane and jewels.

We then had to decide on a price and market our product with posters and leaflets.

At the fair we sold out within 20 minutes!! (Isha was fantastic attracting lots of customers to the stall.)

We made a healthy profit and now need to decide as a class what we will spend the money on.

Well Done 2PB.

Why are the trams so important for Basford?

We have had a very creative week!

First we pretended we had a tram in the classroom. Charlie, the conductor, gave out the tickets but only if we paid 5 pence.

Shane, the driver, took us all on a high speed tram journey that we watched on our IWB. Every time we stopped we were allowed to get off or on.

We then debated whether we should have trams and we made posters to show our point of view. After a vote  we decided that it was good to have trams.

We then made our own trams that had to show an environmental message. They were a little tricky to put together but we all helped each other. We finally designed our own uniforms and logo for the trams, again with an environmental theme. We hope you like our finished work.

What has changed in Bulwell?

Last week we went for a walk around Bulwell. It was market day and we completed a tally chart of what we could see. We saw lots of different shops.

This week we are going to be time travellers and travel back 100 years to see what Bulwell used to be like. This second photograph shows the market square in 1900. The shops look very different to how they look now. What else has changed?

Welcome to our new school!!

We have had a very busy time settling in to our new school. It looks fantastic!

Hope you saw our school on the local news. Did you recognise anyone?

Goodbye Southwark Primary

Today our school building closed for the last time.

After Easter we will move into our brand new school.

I hope everyone has a good Easter Holiday.

See you all on Monday 12th April.

Science Week

Next week is science week and we will all be doing lots of fun activities on Forces and Electricity.

It’s Science week across the whole country so there are lots of events going on. For example digging up fossils in Nottinghamshire. Just look up National Science week on the internet and search for local events.

It’s also our last full week in our Old School. It will be sad to leave this building but think about all the wonderful new rooms we will have in the new building. I wonder what you will write in your information books this week about buildings.

See you all tomorrow.

Is the Bible just another Boring Book?

Last week we lookied at stories from the Old Testament.
We read the story of creation and produced a sequence of pictures that described the events. We then debated whether we believed this version or whether we thought it it could not be true.
We watched a powerpoint about the story of Noah and then built and tested our own boats.
We heard and acted out the story of Daniel and the lions and wrote our own newspaper report.
We finally produed our own poster describing out feelings about the Bible.

Is everyone having a great holiday?

Hi there 2PB. I hope you are all having a good holiday.

Are you watching the Winter Olympics? I am.
I hope the Great Britain team get a medal soon.

It will be RE topic week when we go back to school and something rather exciting should happen on Friday!!! Plus we will be making and testing boats on Monday so if you have any old boxes please remember to bring them in on Monday.

See you all next week.

Can you find our hidden creatures?

Today we painted our pond creatures to match their habitat. Can you pause our pictures and find all the animals in each pond?

Let us know how you get on by leaving a comment!
